Wes Skiles has been with Kaiser Permanente since 2010, and serves as the Sr. Director of Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs for the Colorado Region. Wes leads the Government Relations team in developing legislative and regulatory strategy, managing direct advocacy with state and local lawmakers, and advising on related health policy issues. In his role at Kaiser Permanente, he has worked closely with the Colorado State Health Policy and Financing agency on the integration of mental and behavioral health care into the primary care setting. He serves as chairman of the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry’s Health Care Council, as vice chair of the Colorado Association of Health Plans executive board, and is the current chairman for Coloradans Protecting Patient Access. Before joining Kaiser Permanente, Skiles served five years as political and legislative adviser to the House Minority Leader and caucus leadership, helping to develop and direct major public policy issues including health care reform, education and transportation. Prior to his work in Colorado state government, Skiles was a copy editor and writer for Colorado Biz magazine, and political research coordinator for CBS 4 in Denver.
