Each year NAMI Arapahoe/Douglas Counties participates in a significant amount of community outreach. We enjoy sharing our time, talent and resources with other community partners to help further build awareness and reduce the stigma of mental illness. For several years, we have helped sponsor Thanksgiving dinner for the clients, staff and community partners of The Center Point Program, an Arapahoe Douglas Mental Health Network program. Some quick background on the important work they do:
“The Center Point Program promotes ongoing recovery through the provision of advocacy, empowerment and social skill building. The program provides an outlet for ongoing support and the development and maintenance of healthy relationships that contributes to an individual’s recovery and wellbeing. Information and referrals are provided for internal and external resources to support an individual’s recovery. Individuals and their support system may drop in for resources, one on one, group services, peer counseling and other activities that promote the development of skills and participation in a safe community environment.”
Clients can receive the following services at The Center Point:
- Peer Specialists – provide peer counseling in one on one sessions or in groups
- Resource Specialists – assist individuals in accessing and maintaining benefits
- Housing Specialists – oversee Department of Housing vouchers including administration of the section 8 and Shelter Plus Care Programs as well as managing ADMHN owned properties.
- Payee Services – provided to individuals who have been designated by their MD as needing assistance with money management.
A festive event that allows the entire group to join in fellowship and share a special holiday meal. This year did not disappoint and delicious food was served to over 170 guests.
